Winner - International Acoustic Music Awards, IAMA (Bluegrass/Country category)
Winner - SA APRA Country Song of the Year
Top 20 CMC Chart
I wrote this when I had the privilege of being part of the CMAA College of Country Music in Tamworth with one of my fellow college alumni, Mistin. Being at College that year - oh its was the most wonderful summer. The lyrics for this song were inspired about my homecoming to South Australia after living in Queensland for a number of years.
Down That Road
(Writers: Jessie Che & Mistin Summers)
Verse
It was a small town on a red dirt track
Most people who left would never look back
Till now she hadn’t questioned why
She grew up and said goodbye
Chorus
Down that road
Smiling as she see’s everything for the last time
Down that road
Who know’s what we can find
Down that road
Verse
You can’t touch what you can’t feel
And what she wanted wasn’t real
Quiet eyes in a lonely crowd
This place isn’t for the proud
Chorus
Down that road
Smiling as she see’s everything for the last time
Down that road
Who know’s what we can find
Down that road
Bridge
There’s no crime in returning
When you’ve learned from the journey
Instrumental
Verse
It was a small town on a red dirt track
Most people who left would never look back
Mended bridges brought her home
And now she’s not alone
Chorus
Down that road
Smiling as she see’s everything for the first time
Down that road
Who know’s what we can find
Down that road
Smiling as she see’s things for the first time
Down that road
