Semi-Finalist 2024 - Tamworth Songwriters Awards
Semi-Finalist 2023 - International Songwriting Competition (FilmClip-Category)
I wrote the lyrics to this song more than a few years ago, when I was a younger woman first navigating the (now) familiar seas of love and loss.
Co-written with my long term songwriting friend Mark Drilling, “Sender” features honest & raw lyrics on the themes of betrayal & ulitmate self-discovery.
Sender is also the first song I released with an accompanying music video, (which was set in the 1940s war era and such a joy to film) another time in our history when when many people weren't who they said they were.
Sender
(Writers: Mark Drilling - Music & Jessie Che - Lyrics)
Verse
You started off so true
A man who lives in dreams
But things are rarely ever as they seem
Took a while to see
The double life you lead
Loving others can’t be what you need
Pre-chorus
I wish that I could stop my mind
From thinking that you’re lying all the time
Chorus
And I could
Return to sender
The lie you live
Return to sender
Verse
You don’t think I know
What’s going all the time
And the little flames your keeping on the side
I wished I’d passed you by
But I guess I’m not surprised
That I could find a real life Mr Hyde
Pre-Chorus
Why can’t I just my mind (I just stop my mind)
From thinking that you’re lying all the time
Chorus
And I could
Return to sender
Verse
Now is sweet release
I pack my bag at dawn
Just can’t believe this time I’m really gone
Nothing’s left here now
My heart or in this house
Sun shining, I start my journey South
Pre-Chorus
And now I can stop my mind (I can stop my mind)
Because I’ve left your lies so far behind
Chorus
And I can
Return to sender
The lie you live
Return to sender
